10 INVALID REASONS TO KEEP AN ITEM ( and the solution)

Writer's picture: raquelraquel

I have to admit I am quite ruthless when it comes to clothes, non attachment whatsoever, I let it go. Probably so much that my wardrobe has become so small!

Here from experience, ten reasons we give ourselves to keep clothes, and why and what can you do about it.

1- IT COST A LOT OF MONEY AT THE TIME.

Money that has gone, is gone, clothes are energy, so another type of waste is done here, as well as the money, the energy you get by not feeling your best self when wearing the item.

2- IT WAS GIFTED ( from a friend or relative)

Sometimes, when you get a gift, the person though about them or their style, not specifically about yours.

If it's not your style and you are not going to wear it, it goes.

3- I LOVE THE FIT, BUT THE COLOUR IS NOT MY BEST

If you love the shape, there could be ways around finding a replacement, or even wearing it, by elevating the colour with accessories or lipstick and jewellery around the face, if it's a top.

4- I LOVE THE COLOUR ( BUT THE FIT IS NOT THE BEST)

Let's check if you can get it tailored or amended ( I have done this a few times).

5- THAT'D DO ATTITUDE

This is a common attitude that in itself, it doe not make us feel our best or feel great in clothes.

My question in general, is: why would you not want to feel great?

Change that attitude and you will see more things changing, because you will transmit to others you care about what you wear and look, hence you care about you.

Put the that'd do items on one size for specific purposes and not going out.

6- IT IS NOT MY SIZE, BUT JUST IN CASE I CHANGE SIZES

In my experience, keep at sight or in your wardrobe only your current size, because the other size, is not in your life, if you know what I mean. By even thinking about it, you are kind of manifesting it to be in your house somehow, or inviting it to come back into your life. Don't allow it. Love your current size.

If it's a smaller size than your current one, you are only going to get frustrated you cannot wear it.

If it's a bigger size than yours, that is not you right now, don't let it be in the future.

7- I DON'T USE IT BUT STAYS THERE REGARDLESS

If you have not used it in years, it is very likely you are not going to use it, being style, size, colour...

If you love it, keep it, but out of sight of your current wardrobe.

8- I DON'T REALLY FEEL MY BEST SELF, BUT IT'S A SHAME TO LET IT GO.

Going back to point 5, this point actually is recognising you don't feel your best in that item.

Even if you have to reduce the size of your wardrobe, you deserve to wear things that make you feel good and you are looking forward to wear. Not only it will give you excitement in the morning when getting dressed, but it will transfer that attitude to others when you go out. Clothes do talk about you.

9- MEMORIES

This one is a very nice one. So it is nice to keep but out of sight if you are not going to wear it.

9- RECUERDOS

10- IT WAS FROM MY TEEN YEARS, AND STILL FITS!

I know it's really exciting to know that clothes from over the years still fit you! However, chances are there is a need to elevate that style with current clothes to freshen up the wardrobe.

What is other reasons you give yourself to keep an item?

Not at all! The goal is to work with what you already have and refine your wardrobe, not to start from scratch. We’ll assess what truly aligns with your style, what can be repurposed, and what might not be serving you anymore. The process is about intention—curating a wardrobe that supports your style, not just replacing everything for the sake of it.
  • Will the Style Breakthrough service change me into someone I’m not?
Absolutely not! This service isn’t about forcing you into a specific style or making you dress in a way that doesn’t feel like you.
