WARDROBE MANIFESTO 2022

Writer's picture: raquelraquel

I am someone who spends a lot of time with her wardrobe, finding inspiration and trying on things all the time experimenting in order to try and buy the right stuff. But I am by no means perfect. I have only found my style in my late 30's and I am now sticking with it. Lots of trial and testing until I found things that felt like myself. So here are my conclusions of so many experimenting, which means I will not forget them if I put them in writing so I know where I am heading.

As we move slowly towards 2022, I have created a wardrobe manifesto. Let me know how you experiment with clothes or if you do it at all actually, and see if you can put a manifesto together like the one I share below.

1- MY SKINNY JEANS ERA IS OVER. REPLACEMENT: STRAIGHT & SLIM FIT.

My lifestyle has changed now, but also my legs shape and my eagerness to be comfortable moving around, ( and bending over for that matter, toddler situation) has taken over the looking good factor.

Circulation reasons aside, I now prefer other shape of jeans that I have actually discovered that really suit me. I was always thinking high waist is not for me, or paperbag styles, and by trying in 2021, I was pleasantly surprised.

2- STRUCTURED JACKETS AND & SHORT IN LENGHT.

I have done my tried and tested drop shoulder coats and jackets, and although I like them and it suites me

I fancy something more put together so I will be experimenting with this in 2022.

3- TO KEEP REDUCING WARDROBE PIECES, TO HAVE THE RIGHT PIECES FOR MY STYLE.

I check my wardrobe constantly and reduce it constantly, even if I don't discard the items, they are not on sight when I open my wardrobe every day. This is a refreshing exercise that makes you create easy outfits every day, with a sensible colour palette and a good saving of time looking your best.

4- MIDI LENGHT SKIRTS AND DRESSES.

I have realised I don't really wear skirts at all in winter. I think is the tights factor and that I am always cold. I like skirts and dresses for Autumn. But I now much prefer midi lenghts. I can wear the odd mini skirt in summer.

5- KEEP REDUCING MISTAKE PURCHASES.

This has improved a lot over the years, I guess due to studying what actually happens behind the scenes in the head offices of the fast fashion industry.

I now know what it will be a mistake purchase and what it will not.

6- NOT TO WEAR BLACK AROUND THE FACE.

That's that, plain and simple. I have enjoyed it in the past, moving on from black around the face.

7- SMALL PATTERNS AND STRONGER COLOURS AROUND THE FACE: GREEN, PINK, RED, RUST.

Hello to colour. Not ANY colour, but my colours. I have been trying to find the right pieces in style and fabric that will go with the rest of my wardrobe and may lifestyle right now, that are in those colours.

7- ESTAMPADOS PEQUEÑOS Y COLORES MÁS FUERTES CERCA DE LA CARA.

VERDE, ROSA, ROJO, TERRACOTA.

8- SHORT JUMPERS OR HIP LENGTH SHAPES.

Long jumpers don't suit me or those that cover the butt, I am a column type body shape or a pear shape

( I don't get obsessed with this as you know) but I have identified anything that goes one item straight from neck to below hip, I get lost, you cannot see any shape whatsoever, I need to give myself a shape.

9- CASUAL JACKETS AND COATS

I have tried with more formal styles, and they are not me, even if I dress them down how I can.

I know now, I like puffer jackets in winter, and faux shearling jackets in winter, that's it.

I am moving away from long wool coats which are not for me, for my shape or I feel too formal on them.

10- GOOD QUALITY CLOTHES.

This is important in certain items, especially knitwear, or wool coats.

I have stopped bothering with some fashion brand on some of these items already for years.

11- INVEST IN CHUNKY JEWELRY

I have tried as well the dainty and small pieces, but it's not me. I much prefer chunky or medium size and big earrings, which I normally find in costume jewelry. So I will try this year to find the best quality of these.

Do you know that it actually has to do with your bone structure? if you are small, it will suit you dainty pieces, if you have big bones, chunky pieces will suit you.

12- ACCESSORIES: AVOID BELTS

I never pay much attention to accesories, and that is wrong. However, I don't think I need more bags than what I already have, but I am interested in adding another pair of glasses, I have my Ray-Ban round glasses that go with everything! I have tried and tried belts, and love the look of belts in other people, they don't look as good in me, so I will stop trying, at least with trousers.

12- ACCESORIOS: EVITAR CINTOS

So, which one is your main point of your wardrobe purposes this year 2022?

  • Do I need to be actively involved in the process once I purchase the Style Breakthrough service?
Yes. This service is designed for individuals who are truly ready to commit to discovering their authentic style and breaking free from impulsive, unfulfilling purchases. We work with clients who are at a stage in their lives where they want a more intentional and sustainable approach to their wardrobe. By trusting the process and fully engaging in it, you’ll achieve lasting results—a style that feels effortless, cohesive, and truly you.
  • Will I have to get rid of all my clothes?
Not at all! The goal is to work with what you already have and refine your wardrobe, not to start from scratch. We’ll assess what truly aligns with your style, what can be repurposed, and what might not be serving you anymore. The process is about intention—curating a wardrobe that supports your style, not just replacing everything for the sake of it.
  • Will the Style Breakthrough service change me into someone I’m not?
Absolutely not! This service isn’t about forcing you into a specific style or making you dress in a way that doesn’t feel like you. Instead, it’s about uncovering and refining the style that already aligns with who you are at this stage of your life. Think of it as a process of self-discovery—one that empowers you to feel more confident, authentic, and in control of your wardrobe. You won’t be told what to wear; rather, you’ll gain clarity on what truly resonates with you, so getting dressed feels effortless and right for you. This is about embracing your style, not changing it into something it’s not.

We’ll focus on simplifying your approach to style, making the whole process less stressful and more aligned with what actually feels good for you. By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident and in control, with a clearer understanding of how to move forward without feeling bogged down by unnecessary items or decisions. My role is to guide, refine, and bring clarity—not to dictate or change who you are.
  • What is a Wardrobe Audit?
A Wardrobe Audit is a deep assessment of your current wardrobe to ensure it aligns with your personal style, offers versatility, and works cohesively as a whole. This process isn’t about discarding everything you own—it’s about understanding what serves you, what doesn’t, and how to create a more intentional, well-balanced collection of pieces that truly reflect who you are. Using a structured methodology, we evaluate your wardrobe for consistency in style, cohesiveness, variation, and balance—even if those terms don’t mean much to you yet, don’t worry! The process is designed to give you clarity on what works, what’s missing, and how to make getting dressed effortless. By the end of the audit, you’ll gain a clearer sense of direction, ensuring every piece in your wardrobe contributes to a style that feels natural and empowering. If you’re tired of feeling like your closet is full of clothes but nothing quite works together, this is the step that will change that. Check out the Style Simplified one-hour session, which will give you a taste of an Audit today and start building a wardrobe that truly works for you!

  • I’ve tried finding my style before, but nothing sticks. How is this different?
